This is a question that I get very often from people who know me, and for people who have just met me. We are going to get to the truth about hair growth. It’s so much more entailed with hair growth then just hair products. So come with me on the magic ride of Tiffany’s going to get that hair together. Lets take a step back to be honest with ourselves, you cannot achieve growth when the health of your hair is failing. I’m going to highlight different aspects that go into achieving healthy hair and retaining the length.
WHAT MAKES UP HEALTHY HAIR:
- Hair is part of science the Integumentary System to be exact in our anatomy. Just like anything else, our body functions at optimal health dependent upon how we treat it. It all starts with what we consume on a daily basis. Do you take supplements like ( multi-vitamins, fish oil, B12 and any other supplements due to a lack there of in your body chemistry)? If not that can be one of your whys? when you are suffering from anemia (low iron levels), or decreases in other blood work such as ( TSH, FSH, Testosterone, Estrogen) , it will then begin to show on your outer appearance. hair shedding, breakage at the root, thinning and lack of shine. I highly suggest that we all take multi-vitamins not only will it help your hair, but it will give you energy, and build your immunity, amongst other benefits.
- WATER!!!! I’m sorry I put this in caps, but a lot of us are not drinking enough water. Water helps with hair growth as well. Do you want to know how? Well what does water actually do ? It keeps our body hydrated and allows our cells to circulate more efficiently through our body. Lack of water can lead to vascular dehydration (lack of blood flow viscous fluid(thick)) and that can lead to serious health problems such as heart attacks, blood clots, embolisms and many more. So if lack of water can do that to our other organs, what do you think it can do to your hair. It can keep those strands dry, which leads to. breakage. It wouldn’t matter how much hair product or how expensive a hair product is, because the problem is occurring from within. So what I’m getting at is drink your daily recommended amount of water. It usually goes by your weight see below.
FOOD:
You ever heard that term we are what we eat. Well in this case what you eat can contribute to your hair like it does your health. Below you can find different food that can aid in your healthy hair growth journey.
- Eggs
- Spinach
- Salmon
- Sweet Potato
- Nuts
- Avocados
- Greek Yogurt
- Whole Grains
- Sardines
- Berrys
- Carrots
- Beans
- Bell Peppers
- Walnuts
- Chia Seeds
- Lentil
- Spirulina
- Oily Fish
HAIR PRODUCTS:
Find what ingredients really help your hair look and feel great. For me moisturizing leave in conditioners and heavy creams have done the trick with keeping in moisture. Below I will tell you my favorite creams I’ve used this winter to retain moisture and definition.
Bask & Bloom: Mango Twisting Cream
Briogeo Hair: Chia + Flaxseed Coil custard
TGIN Protective RX Line: Curl Food Moisturizing Cream
Melanin Hair Care: Twist Elongating Style Cream
Once you figure out the products you love start playing with how you apply them. This winter I did LCO (Leave in conditioner, Cream , Oil) and my hair loved it. I use to always do LOC (Leave in Conditioner, Oil, Cream). Theres so many methods and you can even invent your own. But I targeted the ends of my hair I put more creams and sealed it with oil or a sealant. The ends of your hair is where most breakage occurs, so making sure there’s more product on it wouldn’t hurt.
Favorite Oils/ Sealants:
Melanin Hair Care: Multi Purpose Oil
Bask & Bloom: Silky Aloe Pudding
Shar Naturals: Ayurvedic Oil
HAIR TRIMS:
I recommend trims at least every season and also when needed. this changes dependent upon the life of your hair. When I had color I was getting trims more often because my hair was breaking at the ends. Not to say all color does this , however mine did. Now I trim at the beginning of every season, and I dust my ends in between those season when needed. since I incorporated this method my hair has been flourishing.

PROTECTING YOUR HAIR:
This is very important to avoid breakage due to friction against surfaces. Below you can find different ways to protect your hair.

- Satin Pillowcases
- Satin Bonnetts
- Satin Lined Hats

I love the emphasis on nutrition. Many of us focus so much on what we put ON our hair that we neglect to concern ourselves with what we put IN our body. We can use all the eggs and avocados we want, but if we aren’t eating those things it’ll show. *runs to eat a Cobb salad*
